Speed Venture Dating in the Granite State.

September 26, 2008

Yes, you heard it right - speed dating between entrepreneurs and potential investors.  This event is being billed as New England’s leading speed venturing event for entrepreneurs seeking growth capital.   Looks like entrepreneurs will meet with at least six potential investors ranging from Angels to VC’s and the investors will certainly be meeting more than 6 entrepreneurs given the networking session.

Speed Venture Summit

 Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Radisson Hotel, 700 Elm Street, Manchester, NH

One thing I am really excited about with this event is something that we have done annually in our Borealis Peak Pitch events - the pitch-off!  Investors vote based on every meeting they have and then the top pitches go up against each other live to determine the best pitch of the day!  Got to love a little competition!

As one of the sponsors I had the chance to talk about this event and related early stage tech investing approaches on Arnie Arnsen’s “Political Chowder” talk show - go 39 minutes into the video for this conversation, but be sure to get in the game by October 1st if you want to pitch at the event!

Do you have NH’s Top Tech Product?

September 24, 2008

In what has become a great annual tradition in NH (second only to their Entrepreneur of the Year Award) the NH High Tech Council is signaling last call for applicants wishing to be recognized as NH High Tech Product of the Year.  Applications can be submitted online at Website : http://www.nhhtc.org

One of the coolest benefits of winning this award is being displayed in a prominent position out at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT). Of course, each fall those NH State Toursim people bump the display to the side a bit so they can display that monster moose (yes thats true) to signal the arrival of Fall and to wecome all the “peepers” as we locals call them (as in leaf peepers). But heh going from prime entry spot in and out of the airport to the next best spot - next to the moose - is still big time in NH!

    September 21, 2008

My name is Jesse Devitte and while I am the initial “community leader” for this effort, I will be counting on others to contribute news, ideas, content and perspectives along the way. The goal is to create one location for all things NH tech community related. I had been watching the early success of The Startup Blog Network created by David Cohen, Micah Baldwin and Alexander Muse and thought to myself – we need one of those in New Hampshire!  The idea is to share news and content in, about and around the NH Tech Community as well as weaving our local tech community into a national network of tech news, ideas, content and entrepreneurs. If you have anything to share send it to me now at jdevitte@borealisventures.com.
